H&M NetWorks Hooks Up with In-Building-Wireless

After several years of collaborating on joint initiatives, H&M NetWorks has acquired In-Building-Wireless, a wireless integration firm.

Established in 1999, In-Building-Wireless provides the design and project management for indoor wireless projects, working with such clients as the American Institute of Architects, Sprint-Nextel, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, American Tower, Tyco and Commscope.

Peter Murray, H&M NetWorks wireless program manager, told the DAS Bulletin that In-Building-Wireless is a good fit with H&M that allows it to increase its involvement in the in-building wireless market.

"We have done Wi-Fi, cabling and data centers, but we have not done as many pure DAS installations as we would have liked. In-Building-Wireless has a sharp focus on in-building DAS, a really strong resume of installations, everything from hotels to skyscrapers and stadiums," Murray said. "H&M NetWorks has a nationwide scale. Overlaying In-Building-Wireless with our national network of technicians gives us nice synergy."

Both H&M NetWorks and In-Building-Wireless use wireless products made by MobileAccess, which turned out to be their matchmaker, according to Murray.

"MobileAccess was instrumental in bringing our two companies together and introducing us," Murray said. "We did a few projects together, had success and got to know them very well. It was a comfortable, natural progression as we became one company."

H&M NetWorks is interested in taking advantage of the growth in the in-building wireless market, which Murray believes is a natural next step for the company.

"We have a long history of building cable and fiber networks, but the growth curve is not there like it is with the converged in-building wireless networks, both Wi-Fi and DAS. It is not the same exact infrastructure, but it is solving the same problem, meeting the communications needs caused by the growth of data usage," he said.
